Track of the Night : Blue Sky Black Death ft. Jean Grae – Away With Me

This song has been one of my favorite songs for a while now (going at this rate I’ll have millions before I die). Away With Me is a damn good song if you ask me, BSBD created a pearl with this one the beat always relaxes me and the Diana Ross voice sample is amazingly soothing. Away With Me is off The Evil Jeanius album, which I personally enjoyed very much but is apparently produced by BSBD using Jean Grae’s vocals without her consent or getting paid for it… Woops.

Track of The Night: Nujabes – Imaginary Folklore ft. Clammbon

Yup it’s Night Time again so you know what that means for me, lounging on some relaxing music. Today we have the late great Japanese Hip Hop producer and DJ Nujabes. I first discovered Nujabes when I was watching Samurai Champloo. It’s an Anime (Yeah I’m kinda of a nerd)  set in feudal Japan with modern anachronisms (fancy word I just copied from Wikipedia) mix that with a fresh Hip Hop Flavour and you got one of the dopest Animes out there. Nujabes created nearly every background music and soundtracks of Samurai Champloo. I liked the soundtrack so much that I checked out his other works, which was incredible. The mixture of Jazz samples and Hip Hop is just dope, throw in some Japanese influences and you have a unique type of Music that I wish to share with you.

On February 26, 2010, Nujabes was involved in a traffic accident. After being rushed to the Hospital Nujabes unfortunately did not make it. He was 36 years old. On that day we lost a great Artist that perhaps many never heard off.

I wanted to post just one track but there are so many Nujabes tracks that are really good, that I just need to post a couple more : “Feather Ft. Cise Starr & Akin (from CYNE)“, “The Final View”, “Kumomi”

Soul Sunday’s : Late Night Edition

Technically it isn’t Sunday anymore but that’s just nitpicking if you ask me, so screw it a Late Night Edition it is. I’m a Nocturnal Creature, I write / work better at Night (which sadly isn’t that much better than during the Day). There is something about playing a certain type of Music at Night and being busy with a project. But I digress it’s about Soul Music baby, it’s late and I just wanna chill so let’s get it on. Read More…

Track of The Night : Little Dragon – Twice [Video]

Long busy day, so tired so tired… Time to relax by listening to some chill ass music. Hailing from Sweden the Electronic, Soul Synthpop Band has created quiet a name for themself over the years. They also worked with several Respected ARtist such as : SBTRKT, The Gorillaz, Raphael Saadiq, Big Boi and DJ Shadow. I’m not gonna lie and pretend I know them for years, I actually discovered them like a week ago or so but I really do enjoy their music. They recently released their Third Studio Album Ritual Union which is a mixture of the Soulfullness of their debut album and the upfront and danceable sounds of Machine Dreams, their second album.

Twice is off Little Dragon’s eponymous debut album, it’s an amazing track and the Video is just stunning, hope you will enjoy!

Track of The Night : James Blake – The Wilhelm Scream [Video]

It’s that time again, time to gear down and enjoy what the Night has to offer. I recently discovered James Blake and I’m glad I did. Just listen to this track man it’s fucking Genius, it’s mellow and it gives you the chills at the same time. The Wilhelm Scream is off James Blake’s  eponymous debut album. Fair warning don’t listen to the album if you’re depressed or something, cause it can be a bit heavy sometimes. But I loved it man it’s the perfect Soundtrack for the Night.

In case your wondering what the fuck a Wilhelm Scream is. Remember kids knowing is half the Battle!

Track of The Night : Jamie Woon – Gravity

Off Jamie Woon’s latest highly critically acclaimed debut album Mirrorwriting. I got mad love for Hip Hop  (Hmm my Corny Sense is Tingling) but sometimes I just want to listen to something different. It really depends on what kind of Mindstate / Mood I’m. On most Nights I’m on that don’t need/want to be hyped up vibe. So I listen to tracks like this one, check it out maybe you like it too.

Track of The Night : Blue Sky Black Death – The Era When We Sang

“Blue Sky Black Death (abbreviated BSBD) is a production duo based in Seattle, Washington. The duo consists of Kingston (full name Kingston Maguire) and Young God (real name Ian Taggart). They are known principally for their hip hop and instrumental music, made with a mix of live instrumentation and sampling. Their name is “a skydiving phrase alluding to beauty and death”

Literally taking from Wikipedia cuz I’m a lazy dude who got work in the morning and needs to go to bed. First heard of BSBD a year back, I received 2 albums of them one with Jean Grae and one with Hell Razah both albums are real solid, I will post a song from both albums soon. But for now check out this instrumental track from the brilliant album LateNightCinema that just makes me get high without even smoking it’s that relaxing.

Track of The Night : Kendrick Lamar – Growing Apart ft. Jhene Aiko [Video]

After a long day of work / school or whatever it’s so nice to unwind, some smoke a spliff others get a drink. Me? I just vibe to music (and sometimes combined with a drink). Gotta lotta love for this track it’s that typical going somewhere travel music or just driving / walking around the city with no real place to go. I actually don’t do that cuz I’m just to lazy but other people might do that right? Or do they only do this in Movies?Anyways I  do let my Train of Thought do the traveling for me though, it might do the same for you so sit back relax and let yourself go.

Here is a Youtube link to the full song cuz the song in the video is shorter but the visual is stunning so I choose that version.

Track of the Night : Lil Wayne – Nightmares of the Bottom

Yeah I digg Weezy, yeah I said it. People automatically assume I don’t listen to Weezy cuz he is not underground or something but you what they say about assuming.. I really don’t give a damn if the beat is tight and the lyrics ain’t that bad then I’ll listen to it. It’s easy to put things in a box or label, but here at BL&R we don’t do labels. If it’s dope it’s dope. Now enough talk about how broad our taste is cuz I’m sounding like a giant douche at the moment and let us talk about the track.

Nightmares of the Bottom is of Weezy’s latest album Tha CarterIV (real original title by the way). If been told that it isn’t as dope as Tha Carter III but if it has more tracks like this one Imma check it out. Shout out to the homie Nocks for introducing this track.

Track of The Night : D’Angelo – Me And Those Dreamin’ Eyes Of Mine

Lay back, chill and gooooooooooooood night!
